Who is a candidate for earlobe repair?
The most common cause for earlobe repair is due to ear piercings. Often heavy earrings are worn that stretch out the hole or may tear through the entire earlobe. Sometimes it is caused by trauma such as a child pulling on the earring or a comb catching it. Whatever the cause, it can be fixed.
What can be done?
There are several types of repairs that are performed right here in our office. The physician cuts away the healed skin on the inside of the torn section and the edges are sewn together. The sutures stay in between 7-10 days. After the area heals, you can have your ear re-pierced.
